Barça doesn't lose sight of him: Cardoso Varela was back on the table in a meeting with his agent at the Ciutat Esportiva. The operation is gaining momentum

FC Barcelona seems to be taking key steps in the g of a new pearl of Portuguese football: the 16-year-old left winger, Cardoso Varela. A player who would have been discussed this Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

As reported by various sources, Andy Bara, Varela's representative, as well as other assets such as Joan García and Dani Olmo, was recently seen at the Azulgrana facilities. He would have come to the sports city to hold an exclusive summit for the young Portuguese forward, currently in the service of Dinamo Zagreb.

THE FACT: Cardoso Varela already had a first with Barcelona in December 2024. The Portuguese winger made a confidential trip to the Ciudad Condal, accompanied by his agent, to personally meet Deco and hear firsthand the club's sports project. He was caught at the private flight terminal and, after a lunch with the sports director, he was shown the facilities of the Catalan club.

Conditions of the transfer: initial amount, variables and future clause

According to SPORT, in this new conversation between the club and the player's entourage, important progress was made towards a possible incorporation. The operation would be around €5M fixed, with variables that could raise the purchase amount up to 25 'kilos' between capital gains and objectives. Also, as expressed by the website CroatiaFooty, it is not ruled out to include a clause of 20% on a future sale.

For now, Deco and the sports commission of Barcelona have already formally discussed the strategy to follow: add the player and loan him for one more season to Dinamo Zagreb so that he can continue his development in the competitive Croatian football.

After that year of adaptation, Varela would definitively the first team of Barcelona. In this scenario, his previous age through Barça Atlètic is ruled out, due to the recent relegation of the 'B' to Segunda RFEF.
